After picking through our dated biography section to find materials for third graders to use this year, I want to have updated, fun, friendly-looking books available next year. I have put together a DonorsChoose project to try and raise the funds to buy 17 picture book biographies. We're almost halfway to the goal.
If you can help, please click here to donate.
Thanks.

Jokes for You to Tell
I just read Zane and the Hurricane by Rodman Philbrick. It's a pretty serious book about the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, but one of the characters loves to tell jokes. I thought I'd share a few, since I know you guys love joke books (and I'm hoping to have more added to our collection this year). If you'd like to share a joke of your own, leave a comment below.
What kind of dog keeps the best time?
A watchdog!
What do you call a pig that does karate?
A pork chop!
What do clouds wear under their shorts?
Thunderpants!
What do you call a train loaded with gum?
A chew-chew train!
Why did the turkey cross the street?
Because he wasn't chicken!
What did the ocean say to the ship?
Nothing, it just waved!

RI Children's Book Award -
Submit Your Reviews Online!
Have
you started making your way through the RI Children's Book Award list
yet? Did you lose your copy of the list? Look no further than the RICBA 2015 LibGuide (accessible from the Stadium RICAT home page).
The LibGuide includes summaries of each book and a link to the form where you can submit your review (I need to have 3 total on file - electronic or hard copy - by February for you to vote). There's also a link to the statewide blog where you can share your opinions with other students.
Not sure which one to start with? Charlie Bumpers v. the Teacher of the Year by Bill Harley is funny and QUICK.
